Purpose 
The commission effects and encourages preservation, restoration and appropriate presentation of the Town of Edenton and Chowan County as a historic, educational and aesthetic place to benefit the citizens of the place and the state. The commission also owns the 1782 Barker House in Edenton. The commission has 33 members. The governor appoints 25 members.
